Someone once said: Cuba—a place where people dance to the sound of coins rolling down the street, where laughter from children drifts through crumbling, paint-chipped walls for no reason at all. The sands of time move slowly there; everything is old and worn, but that only adds to its haunting, electrifying allure—a country at once unfamiliar and strikingly beautiful. That country is Cuba
The idea for this party was sparked by the spirit of Cuba. It began with a wish to share with friends the relaxed pace of life, rich music, and warmth that, though unfamiliar, is deeply inviting. With that in mind, I organized a special gathering in my hometown of Daegu, creating a space for old friends to reconnect and naturally blend together.
The central theme of the party is “Buena Vibra,” a Spanish phrase that means “good vibes”—a common, heartfelt greeting in Cuba. Infusing this motto throughout the event, we focused on making everyone feel at ease and able to fully enjoy themselves without awkwardness.
The logo, poster, and party badges feature a small stone statue motif called “Casa.” In Cuba, a “casa” indicates a government-certified guesthouse—an invitation to travelers: “This place is yours to stay”. By placing this symbol throughout the space, we aimed to help each guest feel as welcome and at home as if they were simply stopping by a friend’s house—creating a sense of warmth and hospitality.
At the heart of the venue was a DJ booth, evoking the vibe of the Caribbean tropics. With lush evergreen plants rising up and bright, cascading vines hanging from the ceiling, the look and feel of Cuba were brought vividly to life. Latin house, Afro-Cuban, electronic, and tropical house rhythms blended traditional Cuban music with modern sounds, maximizing the exotic feel of the evening. In this space, people could let go of everyday life—feeling as though transported to a vibrant Havana night—freely sharing music, stories, and moments. We hope everyone who joined will hold onto the “Buena Vibra” they felt, long after, through keepsake badges and posters from the night. photo : @a.i.r__shop , wonseok choi
